For my contribution to Birthday Mischief Managed I was able to get one of the coolest, rarest creatures in the Forbidden Forest… The Thestral! They are known as omens of misfortune by many wizards because they are visible only to those who have witnessed death at least once. He was built using modelling chocolate on a wired structure and has wafer paper wings. He was then dusted and painted using cocoa butter. In the background I’ve added Larkspurs for their birth flower. And for the backdrop I dusted off my Jigsaw and got my hands dirty to create a 2D forest for him out of wood. But that wasn’t enough… to celebrate J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter’s birthdays he got all decked out in some party gear and brightened up the forest with some bunting and even bought her a present! Although he’s accidentally stepped on it.
